An interesting website featuring the only "Hausbarn" brought to the USA to reside in Manning, Iowa |

This hausbarn was originally built somewhere around the middle 1600s and remodeled several times over the centuries. This is the only hausbarn brought into the USA from Germany and could be the oldest structure in the US. In Germany it would be called Bauernhaus. Bauer is the German word for Farmer and Haus means House. |
